Jan Schmidt
A passionate relationship to material can be seen in the works of Jan Schmidt. It is always the material itself and its inherent potential, which sets the artist apart. Each group of works are based on intense and lengthy material explorations. The, at first sight, clear and reduced appearance is deceiving. In reality, the works are an almost obsessive investigation into function, form, and the course of time. Consequently, time becomes a central component.
